Tournament takes step to another level with plans to become areas premier event

            JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 2, 2008) - The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Buccaneer Athletic Scholarship Association will host the program's annual BASA All-Sports Golf Tournament May 5 at The Ridges Golf and Country Club.

            The event - which will begin with registration at 10 a.m. and a shotgun start at 11 - has undergone significant changes this year and will set a new standard that should be hard for other local spring and summer golf events to match. With their paid registration fee, players in this year's event will receive a carry bag, putter, golf shoes, polo shirt and dozen golf balls all provided by Nike. In addition, the amount and quality of both hole and door prizes will be unprecedented, with three $25,000 Hole-In-One Cash Prizes, as well as other gifts ranging from a free set of Nike Irons to a Tag Heuer Tiger Woods Golf Watch.

            During the event, boxed lunches will be provided by Heavenly Ham, while Carrabba's will cater the post tournament dinner at approximately 4 p.m.

            "We looked at several other successful tournaments like this one at Division I programs, and we think this tournament could be a major step for ETSU athletics, but it will also provide an exciting event for area golfers," said ETSU Director of Regional Athletic Advancement and Outside Sales Kevin Bostian. "We have put a great deal of time and effort into planning this event, and we hope our fans and supporters will be able to participate."
