MACON, Ga. (October 22, 2007) - ETSU faced quite a challenge on Sunday afternoon as the Buccaneers hosted the Kennesaw State Owls, undefeated in conference play at 7-0 and winners of 12 straight. However, after allowing an early goal, ETSU freshman midfielder Kelly Brinkman scored from 40 yards out in the middle of the second half to tie the match. Eight minutes later, she assisted on the game-winning goal, setting up Jordan Monty.  For helping spearhead the upset, the conference named Brinkman, a Clearwater, Fla. native, the offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The win moved the Buccaneers into the seventh spot among schools eligible for the Conference Championship, two points behind four teams tied for third place. The Buccaneers have three A-Sun games remaining on the schedule. ETSU goes on the road this weekend for matches against two schools ranked higher in the standings, at Florida Gulf Coast on Friday and at Stetson on Sunday. Stetson holds a share of the four-way tie for third.

Brinkman's first A-Sun Player of the Week award came after she netted a penalty kick to lift the Bucs to a 1-0 victory over Western Carolina and clinched the inaugural ETSU Invitational crown on September 16.
