Women's Soccer set to host Mercer Bears

Thursday, October 18, 2007

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 18, 2007) - The ETSU women's soccer team returns to action on Friday afternoon as they host the Mercer Bears at Summers-Taylor Stadium. The Bucs will look to extend their unbeaten streak to three as they take to the field at 4 p.m.

The Bucs (6-4-3, 2-3-1 A-Sun) are coming off a 1-1 double overtime tie to Campbell on October 13. Sophomore Jordan Monty (Mesquite, Texas) recorded the lone goal for the Bucs, while newcomer Rachel Van Horn (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) made her second career start in goal for the Bucs. Van Horn was awarded for her performance (one goal allowed in 200 minutes of play) with ETSU's first ever defensive POTW honor.

This will mark the third meeting between ETSU and Mercer, while the series is currently at 1-0-1. Last season the two teams battled to a 2-2 tie. Mercer is currently second in the A-Sun rankings and defeated Belmont, 3-2.
