Enoch tied for 13th after first round at Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, P.R. (Feb. 27, 2009) - Taking on a field that includes four of the top six teams in collegiate golf - including the top three teams in the country - the ETSU men's golf team finished 14th on the team leaderboard following first round play Friday in the Puerto Rico Classic hosted at the Rio Mar Country Club.
The No. 24-ranked Buccaneers, one of six teams ranked in the Top 25 to be participating in the event, were led by sophomore Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England), who posted a first round score of 1-under-par 71 to finish tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard. Enoch is four strokes back of individual leaders Darren Blair of N.C. State and Dylan Fritelli of Texas.
As a team, the Bucs finished at 9-over-par 297, while No. 13-ranked Georgia Tech leads the event with an 8-under 280 team score.
Along with Enoch's tie for 13th, freshman Michael Stewart (Troon, Scotland) is tied for 42nd after posting a 2-over 74, while senior Jordan Findlay (Fraserburgh, Scotland) tied for 52nd at 3-over 75. Junior Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) and sophomore Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland) both finished tied for 63rd at 5-over 77 on the first day.
The Puerto Rico Classic, which is hosted by Purdue University, will continue on Saturday with second round action, while third and final round play is set for Sunday. Live scoring for the event is not available, but ETSUBucs.com will have a complete wrap up following each day's action.
