DELAND, Fla. (April 14, 2009) - With only one round left in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships, the ETSU women's golf team finds itself with a lot of work to do at the Victoria Hills Golf Club.

The Buccaneers, the defending A-Sun champions, fired a second round 301 Tuesday but looked on as league rival Campbell posted a 290 to finish at 590 for the event, pulling three strokes ahead of first-round leader Stetson. ETSU currently stands at 602 for the tournament, 12 strokes back of Campbell and nine back of Stetson heading into Wednesday's third and final round.

"Campbell had a great round today with even par and they deserve credit for playing well," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton. "But we are due a great round too, and that's what I've told our team. We've had two OK rounds so far, but not what we obviously expect. Tomorrow we have nothing to lose, and I've told the team we're not focusing on Campbell or Stetson tomorrow. We're playing our game."

Individually, the Stetson duo of Lauren Cate and Danielle Jackson are currently tied for the lead at 144, while the Bucs have gotten strong efforts from freshman Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria) and junior Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland). Muehl is tied for third and three strokes back of the lead, while O'Sullivan is tied for fifth and four strokes out of the top spot.

Other ETSU results include a tie for 17th by junior Kennie Leigh Eisenhower (Newport), while both junior Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) and senior Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) are tied for 23rd.

With a national ranking for 47th, the Bucs are not entirely reliant on receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA regionals, but the chance of being passed over for an at-large bid still looms as a possibility.

Live scoring and results from the third round will be available at Golfstat.com, while ETSUBucs.com will have a full recap of the day's action Wednesday evening. For more on ETSU women's golf, visit ETSUBucs.com and click on the women's golf link.
