CHAPEL HILL, N.C.. (October 19, 2008) - Competing against some of the top players and teams in the nation, the ETSU men's tennis team was eliminated from further play at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships late Saturday night, in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Unfortunately for the Bucs, all three ETSU players and teams were unable to advance against an elite field that featured five teams that were ranked in the final 2008 ITA rankings.

Senior Alex Ahlgren (Tyro, Sweden) dropped his opening-day match to Gardner-Webb's Evgency Slearev. After winning the first set 5-7, the senior captain was unable to maintain his momentum dropping the final two sets 6-2, 6-5.

Also in action for the Bucs were newcomer Charles Bottoni (Bois Guillaume, France). The ETSU freshman dropped his match to Clay Donato of North Carolina 6-1, 6-3.

Finally in doubles action, the ETSU tandem of Ahlgren and fellow senior Enrique Olivares (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela), dropped their quarterfinal match to the Duke team of Chris Price and Torestein Wietoska, 9-7.

ETSU looks to get back on track next weekend, as the Bucs travel to UNC Wilmington.
