Monday, March 30, 2009

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 30, 2009) - The ETSU volleyball team started off the spring season on the right foot by taking home the championship in their own spring tournament Saturday in Brooks Gym.

ETSU matched up against Lincoln Memorial University, Lee University and Milligan.  The Spring Tournament included Lees-McCrae College, UNC Asheville, Carson Newman College and Tusculum College.

Lee University defeated UNC-Asheville, while ETSU got the victory over Lees-McCrae in the semifinal round.  The Bucs went on to face Lee University in the championship match where ETSU defeated the Lady Flames and took home the tournament title.

"Our girls did a great job this past weekend," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "We have been working hard on our blocking and attack patterns in our spring practices, so I felt we executed great things in our matches "Devine said.  "It was also good to see the girls doing so well in secondary positions as we are trying to add depth and versatility to the squad."
