JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 7, 2009) - Head East Tennessee State University women's basketball coach Karen Kemp and her staff announced Tuesday that they have released four Lady Buccaneer players from their 2008-09 roster.

Current junior post Devin Thompson (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and sophomores Brittany Daniels (Shellman, Ga.) Kami Phillips (Augusta, Ga.), and Sabrina Treakle (Richmond, Va.) have been released from the team.

Thompson, a 6-1 junior from Murfreesboro, Tenn., averaged 4.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in 14.8 minutes of work during her three-year stint with the Lady Bucs. Thompson was named to the 2007 Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen Team after posting 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds as a rookie.

Daniels, who was forced to sit out her sophomore season after suffering a season-ending injury in preseason workouts, played in 28 games as a freshman in 2007-08. The Shellman, Ga. native averaged 2.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in 6.1 minutes as a post player.

Phillips played in 60 games (eight starts) over the last two seasons. The 5-9 point guard averaged 2.3 points and 3.0 assists in 15.1 minutes per game while wearing the ETSU uniform.

Treakle played in 36 of the 64 Lady Buccaneer games over the last two seasons, and posted 1.5 points and 0.6 rebounds in 7.0 minutes of work.

"These four student-athletes all have a bright future ahead and I wish them the best of luck," commented Kemp. "Both Kami and Devin wanted to move on and do what was best for them, and we released Brittany and Sabrina to help better our program."

The Lady Bucs are coming off their third straight 20-win season and second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.
