MACON, Ga. (Nov. 11, 2008) - After helping lead the ETSU men's soccer team to six wins in its inaugural season Sean Hoek (Newburgh, Ind.) and James Holt (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) were named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman team, announced Tuesday by the conference.

"To receive two players to the A-Sun All-Freshman team is an honor and shows that we have talented, young players within the team," said head coach Scott Calabrese. "The All-Freshman team year in and year out identifies the players who go on to play pivotal roles in their programs and within the A-Sun conference. Sean and James have been recognized by their peers for their outstanding play this season and they are both extremely deserving of this award."

"James and Sean played key roles in this first season," Calabrese added. "Sean was critical in our ability to control the midfield areas. His athleticism and engine combined with a winner's mentality is an asset to the team. James showed poise and presence at the back beyond his years. His steady play and key saves kept us within reach of our opponents all season."

The Bucs were led offensively by Hoek who had three goals, one assist and seven points on the season. All three of Hoek's goals were game winners coming against Wofford, Elon and High Point.

Holt had a good season in goal for ETSU as he earned three shutouts on the season and posted a 6-9-1 record. The Murfreesboro native finished second in the conference in saves with 88 and third in saves per game 5.50.

"These players as well as the other freshman gained valuable experiences in their first season," Calabrese said. "We have in our first year established a strong foundation from which we can build a successful program. I expect great things from them as well as others in the future."
