CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Sept. 27, 2008) - A four-goal effort by North Carolina's Brian Shriver proved to be too much, as the ETSU men's soccer team was defeated by the 15th ranked Tar Heels Saturday night at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill, N.C., 8-0.

The Tar Heels got on the board early as Shriver scored on a through ball from Cameron Brown in the 7th minute to take a 1-0 lead. North Carolina added two more goals in the 15th minute as Shriver tallied his second goal of the match off of a cross from Billy Schuler, and then Shuler added an unassisted goal to give the Tar Heels a 3-0 advantage before the half.

In the second half, North Carolina added to its lead scoring two more goals in the 57th minute as Shriver earned a hat trick as he netted a cross from Eddie Ababio to make the score 4-0. Ababio followed his assist by netting a goal of his own as he scored on a give and go from Garry Lewis to make the advantage 5-0.

Ababio added another goal in the 59th minute as fired a shot from just outside the box past the ETSU keeper to put North Carolina up 6-0. In the 60th minute, Shriver collected his fourth goal of the night as he scored off of another pass from Schuler to increase the Tar Heel lead to 7-0. Alex Dion scored the final goal of the match in the 84th minute as he netted a shot from 25 yards out to make the final 8-0.

ETSU (4-3) was outshot 29-7 by the Tar Heels as North Carolina had 11 corners on the night. James Holt (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) had a season high nine saves in the match.
