Mangrum continues adding to 2009-10 recruiting class
Monday, May 11, 2009
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 11, 2009) - Head East Tennessee State University softball coach Andrea Mangrum and her staff continued adding to its 2009-10 recruiting class on Monday afternoon, as they announced Lucy Schneider (Dade City, Fla.) has signed her national letter of intent to play for the Lady Bucs.
Schneider, who is a right-handed infielder/outfielder, hit .495 (48-for-97) with 10 doubles, three triples, three home runs and 35 RBIs this past season at Pasco High School. The standout player helped the Pirates not only with her bat, but also her speed, as Schneider was 32-for-33 in stolen base opportunities in 2009. Schneider is an all-conference selection in both softball and basketball, while also excelling in the classroom by receiving scholar-athlete honors from the Sunshine Athletic Conference.
"We are filling some final holes for next season and Lucy will definitely help our program with her speed, power and arm strength," said Mangrum. "Lucy comes from an excellent program and we hope to see her winning attitude carry over to the collegiate level. She is a utility player who plays the left side of the infield and outfield. Lucy is a great student and posses the character and attitude we desire in our program."
Schneider is the fifth recruit Mangrum and her staff has inked for 2009-10, as she joins the group of Tara Hartnett (Snellville, Ga.), Whitley Hensley (Erwin, Tenn.), Arielle Garner (Buchanan, Ga.) and Sammie Lower (Sebring, Fla.).
"The group will bring new energy and a winning attitude to the Lady Bucs starting in 2009-10," Mangrum said. "This class will be an exciting group to watch."
