Thursday, March 19, 2009

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 19, 2009) - The ETSU baseball team is set to host conference opponent Campbell Friday at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Park as the Bucs host the Camels in game one of a three-game series.

The Bucs and Camels will play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday to close out the series.

ETSU (7-9, 1-5 A-Sun) comes into the series having won its last two games defeating UNC Asheville on the road Tuesday night 3-2 and Appalachian State Wednesday night at Cardinal Park, 5-3. The Bucs are led by senior Chris Rankhorn (Gallatin, Tenn.) who has hit safely in the last six games for ETSU.

Campbell (10-7, 1-4 A-Sun) went 1-1 against Dayton in a mid-week series and has not played a conference game in a little under two weeks because of rain outs. The Camels are led by Zach Johnson who leads the conference in batting with a .464 average. As a team, Campbell leads the A-Sun in average, on base percentage, runs, RBI and doubles.
