ETSU baseball heads to Belmont for weekend series

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 12, 2009) - The ETSU baseball team is set to face conference rival Belmont in game one Friday at 4 p.m. EST at Shelby Field in Nashville, Tenn. in a three-game series.
Game two of the series is set for 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, while the first pitch for game three is slated for Sunday at 2 p.m. EST.
ETSU (5-6, 1-2 A-Sun) comes into the series having dropped its last two games to Western Carolina by the scores of 11-5 and 6-5, but the Bucs are on a one-game win streak in conference having defeated Kennesaw State in the final game of the series last weekend, 9-8. Jacob Fabry (Chattanooga, Tenn.) leads the team offensively as he is first on the squad in average (.320), hits (16), triples (2), RBI (12) and stolen bases (10). The Bucs are 7-14 all time against Belmont.
The Bruins (7-7, 2-1 A-Sun) split their midweek games this week defeating Mississippi Valley State 5-3, but dropped its contest against in-state opponent Tennessee Tech, 8-6. Belmont is led by first baseman Derek Wiley as he is hitting .408 on the season with 20 hits, 17 runs, seven doubles, seven home runs, 20 RBI and is slugging .980.
