ETSU baseball to face Lipscomb in season finale

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (May 13, 2009) - The ETSU baseball team is set to host Lipscomb in the final series of the regular season starting Thursday at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Park.

 

The first pitch for game two is slated for 7 p.m. Friday night, while game three is senior day as the two teams will close out the series starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

 

ETSU is among three teams including Mercer and Campbell fighting for the final two spots in the Atlantic Sun tournament. The Bucs (23-25, 9-18 A-Sun) have dropped their last six games being swept by Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson. ETSU is led offensively by sophomore Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) as he leads the team hitting .390 on the season.

 

The Bisons (21-30, 15-12 A-Sun) come into the series having lost their last two games after taking the first two against Campbell last weekend. Lipscomb is led by senior first baseman Justin Sanders who is hitting .350 on the season.

Thursday's game will be broadcast on the radio on the Holston Valley Broadcasting Corporation's family of stations, which include WKPT-AM (1400) and WKPT-FM (94.3) in Kingsport, WOPI-AM (1490) and WOPI-FM (97.9) in Bristol, and WKTP-AM (1590) and WKTP-FM (97.7) in Johnson City.
