MOREHEAD, Ky. (Aug. 29, 2009) - The ETSU volleyball team was swept by Morehead State Saturday afternoon at the Comfort Inn and Suites Tournament at Morehead State in Morehead, Ky., 3-0 (21-25, 16-25, 19-25).

"Preseason tournaments are about recognizing weakness in your team," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "I think we have a lot of skill and talent. Now we have to put all of that together and apply pressure to the opponent."

Senior Amanda Youell (Middleburg, Fla.) quarterbacked the ETSU offense tallying four kills, 16 assists, four digs and two blocks. Youell was named to the Comfort Inn and Suites All-Tournament team for her performance over the weekend totaling 17 kills, 79 assists, 18 digs and six blocks.  Erin Ryan (Davie, Fla.) led the Bucs offense with six kills in the match, while Jen Neice (Allen, Texas) had a team-high 10 digs.

"Amanda understands how important this final year is for her," Devine said. "She has all of the ability to be one of the best setters in the conference. She just needs to raise the level of expectations for the other players and continue to work hard."

ETSU jumped out to a 12-8 lead early in the first set, but a 9-2 run by Morehead State gave the Eagles an 18-14 lead. The Eagles went on to win the set 25-21 to take a 1-0 lead.

In the second set, play was tight until Morehead State put together a 10-1 run to take an 18-8 lead. The Eagles got a couple key kills from Kaitlin Craven to win the set 25-16 and go up 2-0.

Play was back and forth in the third set as neither team could break away from the other until Morehead State got four-straight points to take a 21-17 lead. The Eagles won the match on a Craven kill to take the set 25-19.

The Bucs (0-3) are back on the road next weekend at the Pepsi Tournament hosted by Liberty in Lynchburg, Va. For more information on Buccaneer volleyball and all other Buccaneer athletic news, please visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
