Rosman earns A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week
Monday, November 02, 2009
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 2, 2009) - Senior Scott Rosman (Kenner, La.) became the first ETSU player to be named the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week announced the conference office on Monday.
"Scott's performances in goal have been vitally important to our success this season," said head coach Scott Calabrese. "His leadership and steady play give our team confidence, and this honor is well deserved. I think Scott would agree that this award speaks volumes about the team's determination to limit other teams going forward, and to outwork teams defensively."
Rosman had an outstanding week in goal for the Bucs as he picked up his fifth shutout of the season against Lipscomb. Against the Bisons, Rosman was forced to make only one save late in the match. The Kenner, La. native then picked up his fifth win of the year against Belmont in a 3-1 rout of the Bruins. Rosman kept the second best scorer in the league Brandon Tarr off of the board in the match surrendering a late goal on a defensive miscue by the ETSU back line.
"We have the lowest goals against average in the A-Sun, and the lowest number of shots allowed as well as the lowest number of shots allowed on goal," Calabrese said. "This is a great award for Scott and the team."
The senior keeper currently leads the A-Sun in goals against average (1.17), and is third in shutouts (5). Rosman has also tallied 42 saves in 16 matches.
