Tuesday, March 23, 2010
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 23, 2010) - The ETSU baseball team is set to host Radford in a non-conference matchup Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cardinal Park. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m., but was moved because of impending weather.
ETSU (13-4, 3-0 A-Sun) is coming off a sweep of USC Upstate winning the final game of the series in walk-off fashion. The Bucs have been riding the hot bat of junior Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) who is first in the Atlantic Sun in home runs (9) and slugging (.957), and second in average (.464) and runs scored (27).
The Bucs are 17-12 all-time against the Highlanders after splitting two games with Radford in 2009. ETSU won a slugfest at home against RU last year, 13-11.
The Highlanders (10-7, 3-0 Big South) come into the contest having won seven straight including a series sweep of UNC Asheville this past weekend. On the season, Radford has driven in 81 runs as a team with 32 doubles, five triples and seven home runs. Senior outfielders Raphael Turner and Reggie Keen set the pace for the Highlander offense as Turner is hitting .309 with three doubles, two home runs, eight RBI and seven stolen bases, while Keen is batting .306 at the plate with a team best 19 hits, five doubles, 11 RBI and 12 stolen bases.
