OXFORD, Miss. (April 4, 2010) - Sophomore Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain) posted her best finish of the season thanks to a season-low round of 2-under-par 70 during final round action Sunday in the Rebel Intercollegiate at the Ole Miss Golf Course.

Vizcarrondo, who finished fourth on the individual leaderboard, helped lift the Buccaneers to a strong fourth place finish in the team competition as well. ETSU ended the event just seven strokes back of team champion and 27th-ranked Tulane, and the Bucs were just four strokes back of No. 19 Texas A&M.

"I think it says a lot about our program when we finish just four strokes back of a team ranked 19th in the country," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton. "I'm proud of the girls for fighting each day, playing three excellent rounds, and giving a full team effort. We're in a great place right now and we're peaking at the right time heading into conference, regionals and nationals."

Shelton was particularly proud of Vizcarrondo's efforts.

"Mayte has been gaining more and more confidence all semester, and she had that confidence throughout this tournament," Shelton said. "She is at the top of her game and she is really meeting expectations right now."

Vizcarrondo finished seven strokes back of individual champion Julia Potter of Missouri. Other ETSU results included a tie for 18th by sophomore Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria), while seniors Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) and Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland) each finished tied for 24th.

The Bucs will return to action April 12th at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. For more on the team as the Bucs prepare for postseason play, visit ETSUBucs.com and click on the women's golf link
