No. 60 Bucs look to gain momentum this weekend in Music City
Thursday, March 25, 2010
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 25, 2010) - Like a number of ETSU athletic teams this weekend the Buccaneer men's tennis team will head over to Music City today as head coach Yaser Zaatini's squad opens a three-match road trip with a 2 p.m. contest Friday at Atlantic Sun Conference foe Lipscomb.
ETSU (8-7, 5-1 A-Sun) travels to Nashville after splitting a pair of league contests last weekend against USC Upstate and Campbell. The 60th-ranked Bucs lost a heartbreaking 4-3 match against the 54th-ranked Spartans, while outlasting the Fighting Camels 6-1. In fact, the loss to Upstate was the first-ever A-Sun regular season match that ETSU has dropped, while the defeat also ended the Bucs 38-match league winning streak and 47-match home court winning streak at the Buddy Hartsell Tennis Center.
Individually, junior Charles Bottoni (Bois Guillaume, France) has been one of the most productive players since rejoining the lineup after an injury.
Since coming back Bottoni has picked up a pair of strong straight set victories. Last Friday the Bois Guillaume, France native earned a 6-1, 6-4 win over Jack Roux, while defeating CU's Louksas Wallart a day later 6-1, 6-3.
Lipscomb (4-7, 1-4 A-Sun) welcomes the Bucs to the Lipscomb Tennis Center after falling to in-state rival Austin Peay 4-3 Wednesday. Overall, LU has lost eight out of its last 10 matches.
Individually, freshman Colby Saw leads the Bisons with a 6-2 singles record, with a team-best 4-1 mark in A-Sun play.
