SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 1, 2010) - The ETSU women's tennis team picked up their third straight win Monday evening as the Lady Bucs made quick work of former Southern Conference rival Wofford 6-1 at the Reeves Tennis Center in Spartanburg, S.C.

ETSU - who hasn't lost since February 6 - improved to 4-2, while the host Terriers fell to 1-7.

"Wofford might not have an outstanding record this season, but overall they have improved a lot since we've last played them," said Brooks. "The scores this afternoon look very lopsided, however our girls worked hard to keep the momentum with a lot of wins during long deuce points and rallies."

ETSU opened play winning all three doubles matches. At No. 1 sophomores Paula Jaime (Madrid, Spain) and Karina Kedzo (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) made quick work of Lindsay Larkin and Haley Baird, 8-2, while at No. 2, juniors Kelly Holtzhausen (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Andra Voinea (Brasov, Romania) outlasted Guinn Garcia and Stephanie Cox, 8-2.

The Lady Bucs team of sophomore Diana Navrostska (Kviv, Ukraine) and junior Tara Sheets (Gate City, Va.) closed out the sweep in doubles with a close 8-7 (7-3) victory over the Wofford team of Sonia Anand and Sabrina Smyers.

As singles action got underway the Lady Bucs extended their advantage to 2-0 as Holtzhausen made quick work of Smyers in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. After playing the majority of the season at the No. 2 poistion, Monday's win for the junior transfer was her first playing at No. 1.

After dropping her singles contest last Friday, Navrostska bounced back for ETSU against the Terriers as the Kviv, Ukraine native made the score 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Larkin. The Lady Bucs then closed out the win as Voinea won her second walk-off singles victory of the season with a dominate 6-3, 6-0 win over Cox.

Paula Jaime then extended her perfect singles record this spring to 6-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 straight set win over Haley Baird, while classmate Karina Kedzo outlasted Guinn Garcia in a long two-set match 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 3.

Wofford's  lone win of the evening came from Lucy Schermershorn who dropped sophomore Jessica Ratliff (Bristol, Tenn.) with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.

ETSU will now take a couple of days off before beginning its Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season title defense with a noon contest Friday against Kennesaw State at the Buddy Hartsell Tennis Center on the ETSU campus.

Attached above are final results from Monday's contest between Wofford and ETSU.
