Monal, Johnson to highlight Bucs at USATF Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa (June 23, 2010) - Senior Duronal Monal (Belle Glade, Fla.) and freshman Jason Johnson (Springfield, Pa.) will represent the ETSU Track & Field team at the 2010 USA Outdoor Championships this weekend at Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

 

Monal, a three-time Atlantic Sun Conference champion in the 100m and a two-time gold medalist in the 200m, will race both events this weekend in Iowa. The Belle Glade, Fla. native qualified for the 100m event after turning in a time of 10.26 at the Tennessee Invitational back on May 8. Monal's first round 100m race will be contested Thursday evening at 8:35 p.m. The 2010 Most Outstanding Track Performer will also compete in the 200m Saturday evening at 5:05 p.m.

 

Meanwhile, as Monal is competing on track, Johnson will be appearing in the Junior Championships of the triple jump. Johnson secured his qualifying mark in the event after posting a leap of 47-01.25 (14.37m) last month at the A-Sun Championships. The Springfield, Pa. native will compete in the finals of the event Friday at 2:20 p.m.
