MACON, Ga. (Feb. 24, 2010) - With one last tune-up before the 2010 Atlantic Sun Indoor Track and Field Championships, Duronal Monal (Belle Glade, Fla.) made the most of the final competition, as the senior sprinter claimed the 55m title at the Mountaineer Open. On Wednesday, the Atlantic Sun Conference tabbed Monal with Athlete of the Week honors after his strong performance in Boone, N.C.

Monal, who advanced to the finals after winning the prelims with a time of 6.29, captured the crown in the 55m after sprinting in at 6.27 - beating out Appalachian State's Landon Powell (6.36).

The Belle Glade, Fla. native holds the league's fastest time in both the 60m and 200m, and he looks to capture gold in both events this weekend at the conference championships in Johnson City.
