Countdown to first Pitch: 10 days
Tuesday, February 09, 2010
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2010) - With just over a week left before the season opener, the ETSU baseball team is looking in good shape after going through the second team intersquad on Monday.
"The pre-season has definitely been challenging due to the poor weather," said ETSU head coach Tony Skole. "We are fortunate to have a great indoor facility where we can work on certain facets of the game, but it is just not the same as being outside. The two days that we have been able to get outside have been extremely productive, and we are hopeful we can get outside a few more times before we leave for Charleston."
The Bucs have nine days left of practice before they head to Charleston, S.C. for a Feb. 19 contest against The Citadel in the The Citadel Memorial Challenge. ETSU will also face Kansas State on Feb. 20 and Delaware on Feb. 21.
"The game of baseball has a way of exposing you if you are not prepared, so it is important that we keep building a foundation of playing the game over these next nine days" Skole said. "I am very pleased with where our players are mentally and physically. Our retention from the fall has been very good which has enabled us to improve in small increments each day we have worked."
