JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 2, 2010) - Junior first baseman Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) has been selected to be one of eight collegiate baseball sluggers who will compete in the inaugural TD AMERITRADE College Home Run Derby at Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium on Wednesday, July 7 at 8:30 p.m. The event will air nationwide Sunday, July 11 on CBS at 1 p.m.

"What an exciting event this is going to be for Paul," said ETSU head coach Tony Skole. "Obviously to be selected for this prestigious event speaks for itself. I've said it a lot this year, but Paul deserves every bit of recognition and accolades that come his way. I have always stressed to my players that good things happen to good people, and Paul is a great example of this. It will be exciting for ETSU, Johnson City and the entire Tri-City area to be able to cheer for him and watch him perform on national television."

The collegiate home run hitting competition will feature eight of the nation's premier power hitters facing off in an elimination-style format. Competitors were selected from a pool of eligible players that have ranked among the nation's home run leaders during the 2010 college baseball season.

Hoilman, the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, set a new school record with 25 home runs on the season, and became only the fourth Buccaneer in the program's history to reach the 20 home run plateau. The 25 home runs was the fifth best nationally, as Hoilman will be competing against national leaders in Jordan Ribera of Fresno State and Dan Paolini of Sienna.

Matt Gaudet of LSU, Matt Skole of Georgia Tech (nephew of Tony Skole) and Steven Felix of Troy highlight some of the other big names in the Home Run Derby.

ETSU head coach Tony Skole will serve as Hoilman's pitcher for the contest.

"I am very honored to be able to make the trip to Omaha with Paul," Skole said. "To be able to walk onto the field at Rosenblatt stadium one more time is very special to me. Even though it has been 20 years, the sounds, sights and smells of that stadium are still very vivid in my mind. The experience of playing there and now getting to go back is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life.  It should be a great time."

Tony Skole had the game winning hit against Cal State Fullerton for The Citadel in the 1990 College World Series as it was the only appearance for the Bulldogs in the program's history.

The 2010 TD AMERITRADE College Home Run Derby will also feature National Baseball Hall of Fame member Mike Schmidt and 2010 National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Andre Dawson. Schmidt and Dawson will participate in several events throughout the day and will serve as honorary hitting coaches for Derby participants.

General admission tickets for the 2010 TD AMERITRADE College Home Run Derby will cost $5 and are on sale now. To purchase tickets visit www.ticketmaster.com .

In 2011, the TD AMERITRADE College Home Run Derby will move to TD AMERITRADE Park Omaha, Omaha's new downtown baseball stadium, which is currently under construction.
