JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 14, 2010) - Several current and former ETSU baseball players have been enjoying success in their respective leagues this summer, as a couple of Buccaneers have garnered All-Star honors at the midway point.

Former ETSU standout Jeremy Hall of the Montgomery Biscuits was selected to the Double A Southern League All-Star game last week after posting a 3.35 ERA with a 4-5 record. Hall set a Biscuits' record with 35 straight scoreless frames. The Gray, Tenn. native is scheduled to make a start this weekend in Sevierville, Tenn. against the Tennessee Smokies.

Recent Kansas City Royal draft pick Chas Byrne (Johnson City, Tenn.) has been dominant in the Appalachian League for the Burlington Royals. Byrne has a 0.69 ERA after picking up two saves in six appearances. The local native has struck out 16 in 13.0 innings, and opponents are only hitting .140 against the right-hander.

Current Buccaneers Matthew Scruggs (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Skyler Barnett (Johnson City, Tenn.) participated in the New York Collegiate Baseball League Futures Game this week. Scruggs is hitting .324 with eight doubles, a home run and 21 RBI for the Oneonta Outlaws, while Barnett has been good defensively for the Geneva Redwings.

All-American Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) is doing well in the Cape Cod Baseball League as he has 16 hits including seven doubles and two home runs for the Cotuit Kettleers.

Juniors Derek Trent (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Bo Burton (Kingsport, Tenn.) have been playing well in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
