Monday, July 26, 2010

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 26, 2010) - The 2010 ETSU volleyball recruiting class consisting of Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.), Nicole DeVries (Orangeville, Ill.), Krista Hughes (Williamsburg, Va.), Summer Kremer (Mills River, N.C.), and Kiley Tamblyn (Torrance, Calif.) have been named Honorable Mention by PrepVolleyball.com, when the site recently announced its Top Recruiting Classes of 2010.

"As a staff we really took our time in recruiting these young ladies for the last two years," said ETSU head volleyball coach Lindsey Devine. "We wanted to find players that were the ideal fit for our program and I am very excited about this group of newcomers."

Devine comes to ETSU as the reigning Gatorade Tennessee High School Player of the Year and PrepVolleyball.com All-American.  Tamblyn will look to make an immediate impact at the libero position after two highly successful seasons at El Camino College.  Tamblyn was named First-Team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) this past season after leading the South Coast Conference in digs.

DeVries comes to ETSU from Orangeville, Illinois, where she was a four-time all-conference honoree as a setter for the Orangeville High School volleyball team.  DeVries will be called upon to provide an instant lift for the Bucs at the setter position. Hughes is an outside hitter from Williamsburg, Virginia, where she earned First-Team All-District honors during her last two seasons.  Kremer is an outside hitter from Mills River, North Carolina.  Kremer helped lead West Hendersonville High School to an undefeated season and a state championship in 2008. She was named to the all-conference and all-area teams during her final three seasons.

The Bucs return starters Alysa Long, Whitney Cogburn, Lauren Baufield, Erin Ryan and McKayla Barber from last year's squad.

ETSU get its season underway August 27 as they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to participate in the Deacon Invitational hosted by Wake Forest. ETSU will take on Georgia, Wake Forest, and Coastal Carolina in the season opening event. The Bucs will welcome in Appalachian State for their home opener on August 31.
