JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 2, 2010) - The ETSU women's soccer team blanked King College 2-0 to remain undefeated Thursday night in the first ever night game at Summers-Taylor Stadium.

"I am very impressed with the way the team performed," said head coach Heather Henson. "Our players are really starting to get a good feel for each other, and that was evident tonight. If we can get better at finishing chances, this group can really be dangerous. "

The Bucs (3-0-1) set a school record as they did not allow the Lady Tornado (0-1-0) to take a shot on the night, while outshooting King 29-0. ETSU also had a 9-0 advantage in corners.

Junior keepers Megan Masch(Virginia Beach, Va.) and Caitlin Gaughan (Indianapolis, Ind.) combined for the shutout as the Bucs have not allowed a goal in 298 minutes.

In the first half, the Buccaneers tested the Lady Tornado keeper early forcing Abby Kitts to make five saves in the first ten minutes of the game.

Freshman Kayla White (Virginia Beach, Va.) got ETSU on the board in the 31st minute when Ramey Kerns (Kings Mountain, N.C.) played a ball through to White who then fired a shot off of the far post that ricocheted into the goal to make the score 1-0.

The Bucs took a 1-0 lead into the half as they had a 12-0 advantage in shots in the first half.

It didn't take long for ETSU to add to its lead in the second half as senior Kelly Brinkman (Clearwater, Fla.) hooked up with Terri Miller (Cape Coral, Fla.) for a breakaway goal to give the Buccaneers a 2-0 lead.

ETSU had a couple good looks late in the second half but could not find the back of the net as the final was 2-0.

"Our defense played really tough, and did a great job of shutting down King's offense," Henson added. "It's also good to see Terri and Kayla pick up their first goal of the season."

The Bucs are back in action on Sunday at 2 p.m. as they will look to stay undefeated on the road at Francis Marion.
