JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.
(Sept. 30, 2010) - After enjoying nearly a week off from game action, the ETSU volleyball team opens up Atlantic Sun Conference play on Friday evening as they hit the road to take on Campbell at 7 p.m. inside the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center.

The Bucs (14-5, 0-0 A-Sun) are currently riding a six match winning streak, while also earning victories in 10 of their last 11 matches. Last weekend, ETSU swept through the North Carolina Central Tournament with a perfect 4-0 record to earn the tournament title. Senior middle blocker Alysa Long (Romulus, Mich.) was named tournament MVP, while senior setter Whitney Cogburn (Kingsport, Tenn.) was named to the all-tournament team.

ETSU comes into the match at the top or near the top of the league in several categories. The Bucs have been excellent defensively as they lead the league in opponent's hitting percentage, allowing opponents to hit just .139 per contest. The team also leads the league in blocks with 186 (2.66 bps) on the season, which is 70 more than Lipscomb (116), the next highest blocking team in the A-Sun. In fact, the Bucs are ranked 23rd nationally in team blocks.

The Bucs are also third in the league in assists (11.39 aps), fourth in kills (12.34 kps), and fourth in service aces (1.47 aps). Individually, Long leads the league in hitting percentage (.338) and blocks (91). Additionally, the 91 total blocks by Long puts her tied for first nationally with Lindsay Fletemier of Dayton. Long also ranks 28th nationally in blocks per set at 1.30.

Campbell heads into the match with a 6-11 overall mark, including a 1-0 record in Atlantic Sun play. The Camels went on the road and defeated USC Upstate 3-1 (25-21, 25-12, 18-25, 25-15), Wednesday night in Spartanburg, S.C.

Senior outside hitters Allyson Goldbach and Emily Werner lead the Camels offensively. Goldbach has recorded 166 kills (2.68 kps) and 159 digs (2.56 dps) on the season, while Werner has totaled 157 kills (2.53 kps) and 124 digs (2.00 dps). Sophomore setter Heather Wilson leads the team in assists at 4.28 per contest, while also recording 55 kills and 76 digs. Junior libero Kelsey Campbell leads the team defensively with 193 digs (3.27 dps).

Fans who are unable to make the trip to Buies Creek can watch the action via live video at GoCamels.com for $7.95.

The Bucs will return home on October 8 as they welcome in Lipscomb to Brooks Gym. The match is set for 7 p.m.
