Holtzhausen leads women's tennis at USTA/ITA Regional Championships
Holtzhausen Friday, October 15, 2010 KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 14, 2010) -The ETSU doubles team of Kelly Holtzhausen (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Karina Kedzo (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela) got off to a strong start to the USTA/ITA Regional as they earned a victory in Thursday's opening round at the Knoxville Racquet Club.
Holtzhausen/Kedzo defeated the MTSU duo of Bigus/Coffey 8-1 on the opening day of competition. The ETSU duo will take on the Vanderbilt team of Wu/Dillon in round two tomorrow. Holtzhausen carried her strong play in doubles over to her singles match as she defeated Marietta Bigus 6-1, 6-4, in the opening round of play. She will take on Sarah Miller of Louisville tomorrow in round two. Kedzo, Giulia Andreazza (Balneario Camboriu, Brazil), and Andra Voinea (Brasov, Romania) each fell in opening round singles play. Andreazza/Voinea fell in doubles competition this morning as well. Play from the Knoxville Racquet Club will continue tomorrow with doubles again opening the day. |
