Tipoff party features food, fun, scrimmages, dunk contest and more

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 18, 2010) - For the third straight year, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Buccaneer Athletic Scholarship Association (BASA) are inviting Buccaneer fans to welcome the 2010-11 basketball season at the "Bluenanza" tipoff event presented by Johnson City Honda on Thursday, Oct. 21 inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center.

The event begins with a complimentary indoor tailgate buffet for ETSU students and BASA members who are Buccaneer season ticket holders at 5:30 p.m., followed by the event itself at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free to the public.

The Bluenanza - which will be highlighted by scrimmages for both the ETSU men's and women's teams, a 3-point shooting contest, a slam dunk contest, and an autograph session - will also feature several a BASA silent auction, opportunities to purchase season tickets, and prize giveaways for both students and fans.

In addition, BASA will host a silent auction during the event, with items ranging from official ETSU athletic team gear to other Buccaneer athletic experiences - such as Coach for the Day, basketball season tickets and passes to the BASA Ward Room.

"Every year this event has only gotten bigger and better," said ETSU's Assistant Athletic Director for Corporate Development and Regional Athletic Advancement Kevin Bostian. "The Bluenanza gives our fans a chance to get an early look at our teams, while also helping to build momentum toward what we hope is yet another run to the NCAA Tournament for both our men and women."
