Although we played our last home game of the season a couple weeks ago, we still had three more games to play in the regular season. Our week was again a short one because we were traveling to Georgia to face Mercer and Kennesaw State. As usual we had Monday off to recover from the weekend so that we could catch up on sleep that we did not get over the weekend. Also it gave us time to visit the training room for those who had bumps and bruises from the games. We are finally in the middle of the semester, so midterms are popping up in some classes along with huge projects and papers. From a freshman stand point I am finally getting used to the college life juggling classes, soccer practice, games, friends, family, and a social life all at once. It is scary to think that our freshman season is almost coming to an end only having a limited amount of games left to play with our seniors whom are graduating this year. On Tuesday, the week really started as we meet with Tami along with the first practice of the week, which is always a tough one. Tuesday always prepared us for the week of practice.
Before we knew it, it was Thursday our travel day. We departed school at about 11 a.m. for Mercer, Ga. The bus ride was not nearly as long as the one to Jacksonville, Fla., but it was about six and a half hours after hitting traffic in Atlanta. As soon as we got into Macon, Ga. we went straight to Mercer for a little practice to get our legs moving from the bus ride, and then went to the hotel afterwards. Finally it was Friday, game day vs. Mercer. Unfortunately we had an unlucky game and did not come out with the result that we wanted, but we were determined to have a better game on Sunday against Kennesaw State.
On Saturday night, the coaches thought it would be fun if we all went to Dave and Busters for some quality food and games. Of course with our competitive nature we had to make it a game and so we split up into teams, and whoever had the most tickets by the end of the night was the winner. Overall it was a fun night full of laughter and joke as it is always nice to have some quality time with your teammates to bond together. Sunday was yet again another game day! This time it was versus Kennesaw State. We knew that it would be a good game because Kennesaw always has a strong team, and not long after the whistle was blown Jessica Huntington hit a shot from just outside the box to put us up 1-0. We led until there were four minutes left in the game, and unfortunately Kennesaw was awarded a penalty kick, which caused them to tie the game at 1-1. We put forth everything we had in our game against Kennesaw even though we were pushed around a little. We never gave up throughout the 110 minutes. We set off for another adventure this week as we head to South Carolina to play USC Upstate on Sunday October 24. This game will determine if we go to the A-Sun Tournament so wish us luck and GO BUCS!!!
Until next time,
