Sunday, October 31, 2010
GREENVILLE, S.C. (Oct. 31, 2010) - Sian Evans (Gillingham, England) was unable to maintain her hold on first place, but the ETSU freshman still completed an impressive effort during Sunday's third and final round in the Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course, posting a score of 3-over-par 75 to finish third on the individual leaderboard.
Evans - who began the day tied for first following Saturday's second round - finished the event just one stroke back of Nova Southeastern's Sandra Changkija and Georgia State's Charlotte Lorentzen, who both tied for the lead after finishing 18 holes. Changkija ultimately outlasted Lorentzen in a playoff for the title.
On the team leaderboard, the Buccaneers again made a move up the standings and finished the event in seventh place. ETSU's former Southern Conference rival Chattanooga took the team trophy by a comfortable 14-stroke margin over Georgia State.
Evans posted the best finish of her young collegiate career. Meanwhile, senior Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria) enjoyed a solid 4-over 76 on Sunday and finished tied for 30th. Meanwhile, junior Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain) ended the event tied for 16th.
This tournament ends the Bucs fall schedule, as the team will not return to play until they open their spring slate Feb. 14 at the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge in Los Angeles, Calif.
