JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 15, 2010) - The ETSU women's basketball team took time off from practice and training Monday evening as the Lady Bucs helped assist with Upward Sports evaluations at Tri-Cities Baptist Church.

Monday night was one of two evaluation periods where the Upward players needed to attend, and the Lady Buccaneer basketball team took part in the process. Members of the ETSU team and staff helped tally marks in shooting drills, while recording times at dribbling stations. The evaluations will be used to help place the players on their teams for the upcoming basketball season.

"Coach Kemp stresses to us there is more to life than basketball and participating in community service projects are something the Lady Bucs take great pride in," added senior leader Tara Davis. "We have built a relationship with Upward Sports over the years, as the teams come to the Dome and cheer us on during the season, so we like coming here and helping with the evaluation process. We know how much support the community gives us during the season, so we always need to give back to them whenever we can."

The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics takes pride in its community service activities and strives for 100 percent participation from its student-athletes, coaches and administrators throughout the year.
