COLUMBUS, Ohio (Nov. 22, 2010) - Senior Jantel Lavender recorded her 60th career double-double (18 points/11 rebounds) and the seventh-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes defeated ETSU, 80-47, Monday night inside Value City Arena.

The Lady Bucs were led by junior Natalie Pickwell's (Kingsport, Tenn.) career high 16-point effort. Pickwell, who scored 14 points in the second half, finished 6-of-11 from the field and 4-for-8 from beyond the arc. Freshman Shawn Randall (Orlando, Fla.) was another bright spot for ETSU as she netted a career high 12 points in 27 minutes off the bench.

With the win, the Buckeyes - who have now won 112 of their last 114 home games against unranked opponents - improved to 4-0 on the year. ETSU suffered its second straight loss and dropped to 2-2.

In the first half, senior Latisha Belcher (Martinsville, Va.) registered the first field goal of the game when Destiny Mitchell (Bluffton, Ga.) found her open for an easy lay-up; however, Ohio State scored 11 unanswered to grab a nine-point lead, forcing the Lady Bucs to burn a 30-second timeout at the 15:52 mark.

From there, ETSU held its own over the next nine-plus minutes as the Blue and Gold were able to chip away the deficit and grab a one-point lead, 20-19, following Randall's first career three-pointer with 6:59 left before the half. Unfortunately, ETSU didn't record a point after the field goal - and with ETSU captain Tara Davis (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) on the bench with three fouls - Ohio State was able to score the final 17 points of the half to take a 36-20 lead into the locker room.

The Lady Bucs out-rebounded Ohio State 28-25 in the opening 20 minutes, but shooting woes haunted ETSU. ETSU shot 22.5 percent (9-40) from the field and 25 percent (1-4) at the free throw line. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes were 13-for-31 (41.9 percent) from the field and 9-of-12 (75 percent) at the charity stripe.

Pickwell sank a three on the Lady Bucs' first possession of the second half to snap the scoring drought; however, things again went cold for the Blue and Gold as Ohio State went on a 9-0 run to open a 24-point lead, 47-23, forcing coach Kemp to call another timeout.

Eventually the Buckeyes saw their lead grow to 36, 77-41, and Ohio State came away with the 33-point victory.

For the game, ETSU shot 27.1 percent (19-70), while Ohio State finished with a 46.3 shooting percentage (31-67). After being out-rebounded in the first half, the Buckeyes won the battle, 50 to 42, while Ohio State also outscored ETSU in the paint, 50 to 18.

Davis, who came in leading the Atlantic Sun with 23.3 points, was held to six points as she spent the majority of her time on the bench in foul trouble.

The Lady Bucs return to action Friday, Nov. 26 when ETSU travels to Murfreesboro to take on Middle Tennessee State. Tip is set for 7 p.m. inside the Murphy Athletic Center.
