Men's tennis set to compete in ITA Kickoff Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (Jan. 27, 2011) - The No. 51 ETSU men's tennis team returns to action on Friday to participate in the ITA Kickoff Weekend event hosted by top-ranked Virginia at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar's Head Sports Club. The four-team tournament is used for qualification for the 2011 ITA National Team Indoor Championships, held next month in Seattle.

The No. 51 Bucs will open the event against No. 50 Binghamton on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. ETSU heads into the weekend after dropping two matches to top-ranked teams on the road. The Bucs opened the season with a loss to No. 3 Tennessee and two days later fell at No. 13 Louisville. Binghamton will open its dual season against the Bucs on Friday.
Top-ranked and host Virginia will host No. 66 Cornell following the first match at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Friday's losers will meet in the consolation match at 2 p.m. and Friday's winners will meet at 6 p.m. in the championship match. The winner will advance to the 2011 ITA National Team Indoor Championships next month in Seattle, where Virginia is looking to win an unprecedented fourth consecutive title.
