Bucs set to close out home stand with four-game series against Rider

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 24, 2011) -The ETSU baseball team will close out its seven-game home stand this weekend as the Bucs are set to host Rider in a four-game series at Cardinal Park. First pitch of game one will be Friday at 3:05 p.m.
The Bucs and Broncos are slated to play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1:05 p.m., while the series finale is scheduled for Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
ETSU (2-1) won its opening series against Mercer outscoring the Red Foxes 21-14 on the weekend. The Bucs were led by senior Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) who hit .600 (6-for-10) with five RBI, a double and home run in the series. As a team, the Bucs hit .299 with ten doubles, four home runs and 21 RBI, while the ETSU bullpen posted a 1.32 ERA limiting Marist to only two earned runs in 13.2 innings.
The Broncos (0-0) open their season this weekend as Rider will play 13 of its first 14 games on the road. Rider, the defending MAAC tournament champions, returns eight seniors that have been a part of two conference championships and NCAA postseason tournament appearances. The Broncos are led by senior first baseman Mason Heyne. Heyne hit .320 with 56 RBI in 2010.
The Buccaneers are 4-1 all-time against Rider with the last meeting between the two teams coming in 2007 as ETSU won the series 2-1 at Cardinal Park.
