Buccaneers to host former SoCon rival Furman in the Dome

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 13, 2011)
- The ETSU men's basketball team will make history later this week, as the Buccaneers will host the program's first-ever home game in a national postseason tournament.

The Buccaneers will take on former Southern Conference rival Furman Tuesday evening in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Tip is set for 7 p.m. inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center.

All seats for Tuesday's game are open and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, so fans are encouraged to call early on Monday to pick up their reserved seats to the game. Adult tickets will be $10 apiece, with tickets priced at $5 for children under 12. Students will be free with a valid ID. The ETSU ticket office number is 423-439-ETSU (3878), and fans can also purchase tickets via ETSUBucs.com beginning at midnight Sunday.

"We're excited about this opportunity to play in the postseason," said ETSU head coach Murry Bartow, who has led the Bucs to five 20-win seasons and five postseason berths in eight years at ETSU. "We think having a former Southern Conference team in the Dome will make for an interesting matchup for our fans."

ETSU finished the season at 22-11 overall, but fell short of a third straight NCAA Tournament trip by falling in the semifinals of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships. Despite that loss, the Bucs enjoyed a successful campaign, having consistently posted a strong RPI in the Top 100 throughout year. In fact, the Bucs enjoyed quality wins over teams such as Atlantic 10 Conference foe Dayton and SEC opponent Mississippi State, on way to their highest national RPI ranking since 2003-04.

ASun.TV will not be providing a live video streaming of the game, but the Buccaneer Sports Network will air the contest on its normal radio affiliates, including flagship stations WXSM-AM (640) and WJCW-AM (910).
