Eagles soar past Bucs in game two; Sunday game moved to 12:05 p.m.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 2, 2011) - After scoring a season-high 16 runs the night before, the ETSU baseball team surrendered a season-high in runs falling to Florida Gulf Coast 18-9 in game two of the series Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Park.
 
The Bucs (15-8, 7-5 A-Sun) were outhit 20-13 in the contest as FGCU (14-14, 8-6 A-Sun) saw all nine starters post at least one hit.
 
Sophomore Derek Bushey (Richmond, Va.) was tabbed with his second loss in as many games as he gave up seven runs (one earned) on six hits in 3.2 innings while striking out four.
 
Junior third baseman Bo Reeder (Cookeville, Tenn.) became the sixth Buccaneer to reach the 200-hit plateau as he led the way offensively going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI.
 
FGCU's Alex Norris picked up the win throwing 2.2 innings of relief giving up three runs on four hits to improve to 1-0 on the year.
 
Javi Sujo gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the top of the second as he drove a ball down the right field line that stayed fair for a solo home run.
 
FGCU extended its lead to 7-0 in the top of the fourth as the Eagles scored six runs on four hits and two Buccaneer errors. A Tim Roberson two-run double highlighted the scoring in the inning.
 
The Bucs answered in the bottom of the fourth as Reeder hammered a 2-1 pitch over the fence in right field for a three-run home run to cut the FGCU lead to 7-3.
 
In the top of the fifth, the Eagles added three more runs on a two-run double by Sean Dwyer and a RBI single by Mikel Alvarez to go in front 10-3.
 
After ETSU cut the lead to 10-5 in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run by Matthew Scruggs (Knoxville, Tenn.) and a RBI single by Derek Trent (Kingsport, Tenn.), FGCU took a commanding 14-5 lead in the top of the sixth as the Eagles scored four runs on four hits.
 
Scruggs drove in his second run of the game in the sixth as he doubled in John Long (Anderson, S.C.) to make the score 14-6.
 
FGCU extended its advantage to 17-6 in the top of the seventh after RBI hits by Jake Foley and Alvarez.
 
Reeder notched his 200th hit in the bottom of the seventh as he and Andrew Green (Powell, Tenn.) posted back-to-back solo home runs to right to start off the inning cutting the FGCU lead to 17-8.
 
The Eagles picked up one more run in the ninth on a Dwyer RBI single to make the score 18-8.
 
ETSU capped off the scoring in the bottom half of the frame as Reeder came in to score for the third time on a single through the left side of the infield by freshman Corey McPherson (Johnson City, Tenn.) to make the final 18-9.
