JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 9, 2011) - A four run sixth inning lifted the ETSU baseball team to a 6-2 win over Lipscomb in a rain shortened game two Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Park.

Sophomore Derek Bushey (Richmond, Va.) improved to 2-2 on the year as the right-hander posted yet another quality start limiting the Bisons (11-20, 3-8 A-Sun) to two runs on six hits in his first complete game of the season.

Centerfielder Matthew Scruggs (Knoxville, Tenn.) and second baseman Derek Niesman (Wellington, Fla.) led the way offensively for the Buccaneers (19-9, 10-5 A-Sun) as Scruggs was 3-for-4 on the day only needing a home run to complete the cycle, while Niesman was 2-for-2 with two RBI and scored two runs.

Lipscomb's Gil Rehwinkel was tabbed with the loss after surrendering two runs (one earned) in 0.2 innings.

Lee Wilson gave the Bisons a 2-0 lead in the top of the second as he sent a two-run homer over the right field fence.

The Bucs cut the Lipscomb advantage to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth. Junior Dylan Pratt (Johnson City, Tenn.) drew a walk to load the bases with one out. In the next at-bat, John Long (Anderson, S.C.) brought home catcher Derek Trent (Kingsport, Tenn.) on a sac fly to center.

In the bottom of the fifth, Niesman led off the inning with a single up the middle. Niesman then moved to third on a double by Scruggs, and came in to score on a bases loaded walk to Trent to even the score at 2-all.

ETSU grabbed its first lead of the contest in the bottom of the sixth as the Bucs scored four runs on four hits and two Bisons errors to take a 6-2 edge. Niesman singled in both Pratt and Long to make the score 4-2. Scruggs then tripled to right center scoring Niesman from second.  Bo Reeder (Cookeville, Tenn.) capped off the scoring for the Bucs as he singled in Scruggs.

Bushey got the Bisons to go quietly in the seventh, and in the bottom half of the fame the game would go into a four-hour delay before being called as storms rolled through the Tri-cities.

The Bucs will look for the sweep tomorrow as the two team close out the series at 1:05 p.m. For more information on ETSU baseball and all other Buccaneer athletic news please visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
