ETSU Baseball set to face USC Upstate, Furman in two mid-week clashes

JOHNSON CITY
, Tenn. (April 11, 2011) - The ETSU baseball team is set to open a five-game road swing with a couple mid-week non-conference contests in South Carolina as the Bucs face USC Upstate and Furman.
 
The Buccaneers (20-9, 11-5 A-Sun) will face USC Upstate (12-22, 6-10 A-Sun) in a rare non-conference game on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C. The contest is a make-up from the rain-shortened series in March. The Bucs then head to Greenville, S.C. on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. contest with Furman (16-17, 7-7 SoCon).
 
ETSU defeated the Spartans in the only meeting between the two teams this year as the Bucs came from behind to win 6-4 in 10 innings.
 
The Bucs and Paladins have split a pair of games in 2011 with the home team winning each game. In the last meeting, Furman took an early lead and never looked back defeating ETSU 14-5 in at Latham Stadium.
 
Senior catcher Derek Trent (Kingsport, Tenn.) leads the Bucs with a .371 average, while Bo Reeder (Cookeville, Tenn.) has a team-best 11 home runs and 35 RBI.
