Dubose signs NLI with ETSU men's hoops
Friday, April 22, 2011
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 21, 2011) â€" ETSU men’s basketball head coach Murry Bartow announced Thursday that the program has received a national letter of intent from Marcus Dubose, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard out of Mendocino Community College in Ukiah, Calif.
Dubose, who is originally from Hartsville, S.C., will be expected to provide some offensive punch to a team that is losing three significant scoring threats with the graduation of senior guards Mike Smith (Vandalia, Mo.), Micah Williams (Manchester) and Justin Tubbs (Trussville, Ala.).
“Marcus is a really even keel kid both on and off the floor, with a great demeanor and attitude,” said Bartow, whose team is coming off a 24-win season and trip to the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. “On the floor, he’s a very efficient, high-percentage shooter who can make threes, drive to the basket, and shoot free throws well. He’s also an unusually good rebounder on both ends of the floor. We really like what he can bring to our program.”
A year ago, Dubose led the Bay Valley Conference with an average of 23.8 points per game, while shooting an impressive 47 percent from the field. In addition, he hit on 44 percent of his 3-point attempts, and was a reliable 86 percent from the foul line. For his efforts, Dubose was an all-state selection last season.
Dubose becomes the third player in the Buccaneers’ 2011-12 recruiting class, joining guard Rashawn Rembert (Tampa, Fla.) and swingman Lester Wilson, (Knoxville, Tenn.).
