Men’s golf in ninth at Rod Myers Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. (October 1, 2011) – ETSU redshirt senior Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) fired two-round total of 1-over-par to lead the Bucs on the first day of the Rod Myers Invitational at the Duke University Golf Club.
Enoch currently sits tied for ninth in 63-player field. He started off the day with a four-over 76, before closing the day with a three-under 69. The three-under-par round is the low round of the young season for Enoch and the lowest 18-hole round by an ETSU player so far this season. In addition, the round equaled the lowest round of the day.
The Bucs compiled a 600 (306-294) and they sit in ninth place with one round to play. Charlotte leads in the team standings after firing a 7-under-par total on day one. Duke is in second at 4-under, while Iowa is third at 5-over. Baylor is in fourth (+8), followed by Tulsa (+11), Tennessee (+17), Michigan (+19) and North Carolina (+24). ETSU (+25) is ahead of Coastal Carolina (+26) and Georgia Southern (+32) on day one.
Steven Ihm of Iowa leads the individual standings at 4-under. Ihm fired a pair of 2-under-par rounds of 70 on the day. Raoul Menard from Charlotte is in second at 3-under, while Brinson Paolini of Duke sits at 2-under and in third position.
ETSU freshman Sam Edwards (Bigbury, England) recovered nicely with a 1-under 71 after an opening round 77. Edwards is currently tied for 24th. Spencer Lawson (Raleigh, N.C.) is tied for 40th at 153 (75-78), while Rhys Pugh (Pontypridd, Wales) is tied for 47th at 154 (78-76). Tom Heggarty (Cheshire, England) rounded out the ETSU scoring at 159 (78-81).
The final round of play will begin tomorrow morning with the Bucs paired with Georgia Southern and Coastal Carolina at 7:55 a.m. on the 10th tee.
