ETSU Hosts Pink Week to Help Battle Breast Cancer

Men’s Soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball to participate in week-long event

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 14, 2011) – The ETSU athletic department is teaming up with Colleges Against Cancer for Pink Week on campus to help raise money and awareness about breast cancer.

The week-long event begins on Sunday, October 16, and goes through Saturday, October 22.

Colleges Against Cancer is an organization which gives college students the opportunity to fight cancer on campus by focusing efforts on advocacy, cancer education, Relay for Life and survivorship. The organization has over 300 chapters across the nation.

ETSU starts Pink Week at the men’s soccer game against FGCU on Sunday, as the event runs through women’s soccer on Friday against Kennesaw St. and on Saturday as volleyball takes on KSU. Fans wishing to donate will have multiple opporunties to do so courtesy of the university's marketing department. Chances to donate include giving one dollar for pink shakers or five dollars to participate in on-field/court events.

Fans who wear pink will be admitted to each event for just one dollar.
