JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (November 10, 2011) – The ETSU volleyball team returns home to host Lipscomb and Belmont in the final regular season matches of the year as the Bucs will celebrate Senior Weekend inside Brooks Gym.

The Bucs will take on the reigning back to back Atlantic Sun champion, Lipscomb, on Friday at 7 p.m., before closing out the regular season against Belmont on Saturday at 3 p.m. for Senior Day.

ETSU enters the weekend with a 13-14 overall record and a 6-5 mark in A-Sun play, after winning its last two matches. The Bucs defeated Kennesaw State on the road two weeks ago, before knocking off USC Upstate last weekend.

The Bucs can clinch a spot in next week’s Atlantic Sun Championship with at least a win this weekend. ETSU can also earn a spot if North Florida or Jacksonville loses a match this weekend. If ETSU, Jacksonville and North Florida finished tied in the standings, Atlantic Sun tiebreaker rules will be used to determine the final two tournament spots.

Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.) continues to lead the team in kills at 4.16 per set, while ranking second in the Atlantic Sun. In addition, Devine ranks 30th in the country in kills per set. She is also on pace to break the ETSU single season record for most kills per set. The current record is 4.08, set by Jennifer Sartor in 2006.

Senior Jamie Stancliff (Advance, N.C.) remains the league leader in blocks at 1.12 per set. As a team, ETSU continues to lead the league in blocks at 2.12 per set.

The match on Friday is tabbed as Club Volleyball/Middle School Night – kids aged 12 and under receive free admission. Friday is also “Facebook Friday” – be sure to print off the coupon on the ETSU Buccaneer Athletics Facebook page.

Saturday’s match will be the last home contest for three ETSU seniors. Stancliff, McKayla Barber (Columbus, Ind.) and Kiley Tamblyn (Torrance, Calif.) will be recognized before the match against Belmont.

Lipscomb enters Friday’s match with a 17-8 overall record on the season, including a conference leading 10-1 mark in A-Sun play. She also leads the team in kills, blocks and points. Meanwhile, Lipscomb leads the league in hitting percentage, assists and kills. Lipscomb defeated ETSU, 3-0, in Nashville back on October 1.

Belmont heads into the weekend with a 18-8 overall record on the season, including a 9-2 mark in A-Sun play. The Bruins are riding a three-match winning streak after most recently defeating Kennesaw State over the weekend. Belmont is led by senior Maggie Johnson.
