Women's soccer signs second Austrian national team player, Sarah Zadrazil

Monday, March 12, 2012

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 12, 2012) – ETSU women’s soccer head coach Adam Sayers announced the eighth signing of the 2012-13 recruiting class on Monday with the addition of Sarah Zadrazil (St. Gilgen, Austria).

“I am very excited that Sarah will be joining us,” Sayers said. “She has lots of national team experience at each age group, which is invaluable, and she has proven that she can both score and create goals at that level. Recently she was chosen to captain her country at the U19 level, which is obviously a great honor for her and speaks volumes about her personality and leadership attributes. I am very much looking forward to working with Sarah and am thrilled she will be a member of our team here at ETSU.”

Zadrazil comes to ETSU having spent an extensive amount of time with the Austrian national squad. The St. Gilgen native has climbed Austria’s national team ladder having spent time with her country’s U17, U19 and A-national team squads, scoring 13 goals along the way.

In 2009, Zadrazil began her international career as a member of Austria’s U17 team and helped her country win the first round of UEFA U17 European Championship qualifying by scoring four goals in a group which featured Scotland, Czech Republic and Lithuania. The following year, Zadrazil moved on to play for Austria’s U19 national team where she scored three goals in matches against Hungary and Portugal to lead the team through the first round of UEFA U19 European Championship qualifying. Later that season, she was called upon to join Austria’s A-national team and competed against England, Turkey, Slovenia and Nigeria.

During the 2011-12 season, Zadrazil assisted the U19 Austrian team with five goals in a campaign that saw Austria finish top of their UEFA U19 European Championship first qualifying round group, which also included Italy, Macedonia and Armenia. She was then called upon for a second stint with Austria’s A-national team.

Zadrazil currently plays for SG Bergheim/Hof in Austrian Frauenliga.
