SKILLMAN, N.J. (June 6, 2012) – After winning its sixth consecutive Atlantic Sun Championship and stringing together 14 straight wins during the 2012 season, the ETSU men’s tennis team checked in at No. 72 in the final Campbell’s/ITA Men’s Team Rankings.
ETSU (14-9, 9-0 A-Sun) was a frequent visitor to the ITA Team Rankings, as the Buccaneers were ranked in 11 of the 16 polls the association released throughout the year. The Bucs began the year with their highest ranking of the season on Jan. 3 at No. 58 in the first edition of the poll, and remained in the rankings all the way through Feb. 21. ETSU then reentered the rankings on March 27, and were part of the top 75 for six of the season’s final seven polls.
The Buccaneers have now been ranked in the ITA’s Final Team Rankings each of the last seven years. ETSU’s highest final ranking during that stretch came in 2008 when it was ranked No. 37 after defeating then-No. 26 Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
