Scott sits fifth in decathlon through day one of USA Junior Outdoor Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (June 15, 2012) – After day one of the 2012 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships, ETSU freshman K’Vonte Scott (Virginia Beach, Va.) sits in fifth place in the men’s decathlon with 3,730 points through the first five sections of the event.
Scott’s top performance of the day came in the 400m, where he took first place with a time of 49.61. The Buccaneer freshman also earned top fives in both the long jump and high jump, leaping 6.80m in the long jump and clearing a height of 1.96m in the high jump.
Gunnar Nixon of Arkansas currently resides in first place overall with 4,062 points.
Day two of the USA Juniors begins Saturday at 1:30 p.m. local time, starting with the 110m hurdles portion of the decathlon. The decathlon will conclude at 8:20 p.m. with the 1500m.
