MACON, Ga. (Aug. 20, 2012) – Freshman goalkeeper Sierra Campbell (Thompson's Station, Tenn.) helped guide the ETSU women’s soccer team to a pair of season-opening wins over the weekend, and the Lady Buccaneer rookie was rewarded for her efforts as the Atlantic Sun Conference named her Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

In her first weekend as an ETSU Lady Buccaneer, Campbell started her first two collegiate games in goal, making a combined 16 saves and earning one shutout to the tune of a 0.46 GAA. The freshman keeper helped ETSU to a 2-0-0 week on the road against Tennessee Tech and UNC Asheville, its first such start since 2008, beginning her career with a 2-0-0 record in goal. She allowed just one goal off 39 shots faced and 19 shots on goal, posting a save percentage of .941 for the week.

On Friday against Tennessee Tech in the season opener, Campbell made her first collegiate start and played the full 90 minutes making two saves off 13 shots faced. Keeping the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard through both halves, the freshman earned her first collegiate shutout.

On Sunday against UNC Asheville, Campbell made 14 saves en route to a 2-1(2OT) ETSU victory. The Thompson's Station, Tenn. native faced 26 Asheville shots, and made back-to-back diving saves in a span of one minute during the second half. She kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard for 84:42, starting her career with a 174:42 shutout streak.

Campbell and the Lady Bucs return to action on Friday night when ETSU hosts Presbyterian in its home-opener. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
