ETSU basketball legends to play reunion game Oct. 20

JOHNSON CITY (Sept. 26, 2012) – The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the ETSU Alumni Association, in conjunction with Bona Fide Event Management, LLC, will welcome several former Buccaneer basketball stars and football players back to the Tri-Cities area on Saturday, Oct. 20 for the Little Caesars’ Buc Alumni Basketball Classic Game.

The game, which will be played at Carver Recreation Center in Johnson City beginning at 6 p.m. on Oct. 20, is part of a reunion weekend aimed primarily at African-American alumni who attended ETSU from the late 1980s and into the mid-1990s.

As for the list of the former ETSU stars who will be attending the event, it includes some of the most recognizable names from arguably the most successful era in the history of the Buccaneers’ program. The list will include: Keith "Mister" Jennings, DeShawne Blocker, Marty Story, Major Geer, Scotty Dykes, Geoff Herman, Ereck Palmer, Trazel Silvers, Robert Doggett, Loren Riddick, Damien Hodge, Tim Smith, Michael Woods, Yvette Grainger, Jason Niblett, Calvin Talford, Rodney English, Rodney Jones, Greg Dennis, Rick Harris, Travis Strong, Kelcey Watson, Tara Davis, Andrew Reed and Marcus Reece.

Jennings, an ETSU All-American player and former NBA standout, will coach Team Blue, while Team Gold will be coached by Blocker, who is currently ETSU’s women’s basketball associate head coach and a former basketball superstar.
