Wednesday, November 21, 2012

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 21, 2012) – The East Tennessee State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will hold a viewing party for the NCAA Volleyball Selection Show this Sunday, Nov. 25 at One12 Downtown in Johnson City. The ETSU volleyball team will be on hand beginning at 3:30 p.m., while the NCAA Tournament pairings will be announced at 4 p.m. on ESPNU.

The volleyball team will be signing autographs prior to the show, while interviews with coaches and players will be available after the pairings have been announced.

The Bucs (23-12) earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Atlantic Sun Championship last Saturday in Nashville, Tenn. ETSU defeated North Florida in five sets in the championship match, while Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.) was named Tournament MVP and teammates Bethany Gesell (High Point, N.C.) and Meredith Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) also landed All-Tournament Team honors.

This marks ETSU’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament in volleyball.

First and second round competition of the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship will be held at 16 campus sites Nov. 29-30 or Nov. 30-Dec. 1. The winners will advance to four regional tournaments.
